Seeing that school ends for the summer, Gerry (Aaron Schwartz) can be sent by their parents to Camping Hope, a weight loss camp for boys. Despite worrying initially, Gerry makes friends easily with the Chipmunk Cabin (which the boys have named a very long time ago) Gerald finds that Camp Expect is actually a thrilling time and will not be nearly since bad as he or she thinks; as one veteran in the camp put that, Gerald is "not the fat kid, every one's the fat youngster. " He also discovers how the other campers have got smuggled in enough processed foods to easily stave off the hunger pangs and also probably counteract any weight loss that the camp programs cause.
But all isn't well at Camping Hope. The first night of the summer provides the revelation how the original owners associated with Camp Hope, Harvey (Jerry Stiller) and also Alice Bushkin (Anne Meara), have entered bankruptcy plus the camp has recently been bought by fitness entrepreneur Tony Perkis (Ben Stiller), who announces his intend to make the camp's new exercise routine into the top weight loss infomercial in the country. Tony tries to create himself seem such as someone the campers can connect with, saying that he or she was a excess fat kid when he or she was younger as well, but his strategies to motivating the people border on psychotic.
Tony cleanses the cabins in the campers' food caches, cuts off their exposure to the outside world, and installs a workout outline of trendy fitness techniques that will downplay fun to the level of humiliation. In this event, Josh (Shaun Weiss) taunts Tony from the protection of Gerry. Josh ends upwards getting kicked from the camp without the refund. Many campers dilemma what Josh's fate was after that event. However, because Josh wouldn't receive a repayment, Josh's father, who is a lawyer, threatened to have Tony sued. Subsequently, Tony had zero choice but permitting Josh to return to the camp.
At some point, when Tony goes out for a work, Gerry, Josh and some other campers sneak directly into Tony's office to look for food. They find that will Tony was holding onto all of the letters the campers delivered to their parents that complained with their hardships. As they leave the office, Gerry and his friends stumbled upon a fellow camper eating a hamburger. The camper tells them of the secret food stash from the forest. The campers eventually gain excess fat, despite Tony's fitness regimen. After Tony measures some of the campers' weight failures, he notices that they actually gained excess fat. As punishment, Tony forces them using a 20-mile hike, reasoning that this will help the boys work off a few of their extra bodyweight, but will furthermore restore discipline. Around the hike, the campers technique Tony into falling right into a deep pit, greatly injuring him. The boys bring Tony to camp and imprison him inside a makeshift cell associated with chicken wire electrified that has a bug zapper.
Inside celebration of Tony's fall, there is many binge eating. This boys, and even many camp counselors that are also happy about Tony's downfall, purchase in pizzas and also submarine sandwiches, stuff themselves on dark chocolate and drench themselves in soda. The subsequent morning, Pat Finley (Tom McGowan), a counselor who had arrive at Camp Hope every summer since he or she was 10, tells your kids to finally begin taking responsibility and start actually losing weight. The boys begin carrying out a more healthy regime and commence to make Camp Hope an exciting place again. In parents' visiting day, the parents are shown a video of Tony's harshness. While they are watching, Tony escapes their prison and results exchanging quips with Gerry's father. In an attempt to make an remarkable exit, Tony attempts several backflips, stumbles, and also incapacitates himself. This parents tell Tony a2z his days associated with terrorizing their little ones are over. Tony's own father comes on to take the keys and deed for the camp away from his son to ensure this does not happen again. He states how the camp will become closed, and all of the money paid for admission refunded.
Nevertheless the campers do n't need to leave Camping Hope. Despite Perkis, the camp, and the friends they have got made are still a thrilling time. Since there isn't any adult accountable for the camp right now, Pat is voted being the head counselor. Pat starts really putting the campers to be effective to win a good annual competition versus some rather fitness, and perhaps somewhat over-competitive campers that are trained to go when it reaches this competition with everything they have got, which up until finally Pat took over made other sellers rather one-sided. Terry, however, has been training them not to lose hope, and to have entertaining, which they accomplish. It turns out that they have just enough ability to win: to the distress in the counselors at the overly-competitive camp, who may have already decided how the trophy belongs for many years. With this witout a doubt being planned by the Chipmunks, Pat gives the trophy to among the kids, who then throws it into your lake. Which the over-competitive campers believe Pat is crazy internet marketing more concerned about having fun then winning the trophy. The film ends with everybody laughing, and having on; Gerry subsequently says to Terry, "Thanks for the top damn summer of my well being! " which Terry had mentioned to Gerry at the start of the film.
After the credits, Tony is shown as a door to front door salesman selling curing crystals.
